Wellbeing through creativity

It's a great feeling when somebody says to me " wow did you make that, it's great well done"
Automatically something within starts to spark, I feel proud, useful, clever all sorts of good feelings. These feelings inspire me to then go on and make/ create more items that give me great pleasure in the process of the creativity as well as the finished product. I love being creative and enjoy making costume jewellery as well as other crafts, ive had the pleasure of displaying my pieces in local independent shops and galleries, run my own online shop as well as facilitating and tutoring in my own home studio as well as out in my local community.
I have sold my pieces world wide as well as locally, this is a great proud feeling I have even just writing about it now. The feeling I am wanting to keep having on a daily basis, especially at this time of the year when the days are short and often dull, wet and getting cold.
My point here is that, through the creativity I take part in, helps me with my wellbeing as it does for my fellow makers and crafters. Being creative is a great way to help with many blocks we face in life such as depression, loneliness, I'll health etc.
It is a proven fact that having a hobby can help to prolong the life of an individual through brain activity as well as the mental health improvement, even hospitals are now recognising this fact and many now have programmes of Arts in Health for patients with severe health problems(Arts council England ) .
Many communities are also recognising the wellbeing through arts / creativity is a great asset and so are holding classes / workshops in independent shops, galleries and even schools.
Look in your local papers and community centres for your chance to take part in these activities, learn a new hobby, socialise be more active.
